JEWELRY MAGIC I:
 ring, stone, and earrings

DESCRIPTION

Learn basic jewelry fabrication skills and complete a simple band ring, set a simple cabochon (non-faceted) stone, and create a pair of earring pierced out of a sheet of sterling silver. Soldering with a gas torch, filing, polishing, tool skills, and studio safety practices will be covered.

JEWELRY MAGIC II:
 stone, tube, and prong setting

DESCRIPTION

This workshop is a continuation of the jewelry fabrication skills covered in Jewelry Magic 1. In this all-new workshop, students will complete a pendant with a cabochon setting and add a tube setting with a small faceted stone and create a simple prong for a found object. Soldering with a gas torch, filing, polishing, tool skills, and studio safety practices are covered.

THE DELICATE ART
 OF FILIGREE

DESCRIPTION

Filigree jewelry is an ancient craft traditionally practiced in Asia and the Middle East. It is characterized by its delicate construction of twisted, hand bent wires soldered together in a designed framework. In this workshop students learn how to make silver filigree jewelry and complete a pendant and pair of earrings.

SMALL METAL JEWELRY
 for youth (ages 13-17)

Description

In this fun, creative week students will learn basic jewelry fabrication and small metal skills as they create their own jewelry designs. Student will learn soldering with a gas torch, filing and polishing, and will use copper sheet, copper wires, and some fine silver. We will complete at least 3 projects, including a ring, earrings and a pendant. Tool skills, and studio safety practices will be covered.

Please note that students must wear long pants and closed toed shoes in the studio.
